Transforming an Old China Hutch into a Coffee Bar

We love finding new ways to repurpose old furniture. Recently, we stumbled upon a beautiful old china hutch on Facebook Marketplace. It was in great condition, but it was a bit outdated in style. We knew that with a little bit of work, we could transform it into a stunning coffee bar.

Here’s what we did:

  1. Repainted the hutch. We chose a deep charcoal gray to give it a modern farmhouse feel. This dramatic color really makes a statement!
  2. Added lighting. We used a LED Edison light inside the top cabinet for a warm and inviting glow.
  3. Refinished the bar surface. We sanded down the existing surface and stained it a rich, warm brown to create a beautiful contrast with the dark paint.
  4. Added some personal touches. We decorated the coffee bar with some fall-themed decor, including a “Coffee” sign, some faux pumpkins and sunflowers, and a cute little tiered tray. We also added some practical items like a coffee maker and canisters for coffee beans.

We are so happy with how our coffee bar turned out. It is now a beautiful and functional space that we love to spend time in.

Here are some tips for transforming an old china hutch into a coffee bar:

  • Choose the right paint color. Don’t be afraid to go bold! A deep color can add a touch of drama and sophistication.
  • Add some lighting. Think about both function and ambiance. Under-cabinet lighting can be helpful for tasks, while string lights or a small lamp create a cozy atmosphere.
  • Refinish the bar surface. A contrasting woodgrain adds warmth and visual interest.
  • Add some personal touches. Have fun with it! Decorate with items that reflect your personal style.

We hope this blog post has inspired you to transform an old piece of furniture into something new and beautiful.
